(This is not a sponser it is just an example and it is what I use)
to make snow you will need a pressure washer. The pressure washer ensures a high pressure water flow which makes it so water sprays out of the nozzles in a fine mist, as well as keeps a steady flow of water coming out of the nozzles which will turn to snow . When looking for a pressure washer keep in mind you will need at least 1000 psi (pressure per square inch), most pressure washers are easily capable of that. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you want high snow yield you should probably consider a pressure washer with a higher gpm (gallons per minute). A good rule of thumb is that for every gpm produced by your pressure washer you will receive one inch per hour (in a 20 ft by 8ft pile). One final thing to keep in mind is if you get a gas or electric pressure washer, there are pros and cons to each. with an electric pressure washer you get less of a sound. so I would recommend an electric pressure washer for those looking to make snow in suburban areas. If you live where sound is not a problem then I would recommend a gas pressure. Gas pressure washers are generally cheaper if you are looking for a higher gpm (more snow yield). The only thing about gas pressure washers is they need to be supplied with gas and that can be a little annoying.
(this also is not a sponser just for demo purposes It is just what i use)
Another additional thing you will need to make your own snow is an air compressor. The air compressor is what helps nucleate the water to help it freeze into snow. Fun fact: the ratio of air to water in snow that falls from the sky is 8:1. without an air compressor It would be very hard to make snow in warm temperatures and your snow would be very icy. when choosing between air compressors keep in mind you will need at least 4.5 cfm (cubic feet per minute) @ 90 psi or 5 cfm @ 40 psi. Having an air compressor with more cfm will not greatly increase your snow yield but it might slightly increase the quality of the snow. I would recommend The kobalt air compressor in the picture if you are looking for a cost effective air compressor that meets requirements. That is also the air compressor I use and it works great.
The final thing you need to make your own snow is cold weather. To be more specific under 28 degrees wet bulb temperature. you might be thinking what is the wet bulb temperature. to find out what it is go to Bogner snowmakings wet bulb chart. Once you find out the wet bulb where you will be making snow there are a few different main types of snow thAT YOU MIGHT MAKE DEPENDING ON THE WET BULB TEMPERATURE WHERE YOU WILL BE MAKING SNOW. THE FIRST TYPE IS MARGINAL SNOWMAKING THAT IS ACHIEVED WHEN YOUR WET BULB TEMPERATURE IS 21-28 DEGREES. MARGINAL SNOWMAKING IS WHERE YOUR SNOW IS WETTER AND SLUSHIER. iDEALY YOU WILL WANT TO MAKE THE SECOND KIND OF SNOW WHICH IS IDEAL SNOWMAKING THAT IS WHERE THE WET BULB TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 20 DEGREES. WHEN YOU MAKE SNOW IN IDEAL TEMPERATURE YOUR SNOW WILL TURN OUT DRYER AND FLUFFIER. ONE FINAL THING TO ADD IS THE COLDER IT IS YOU WILL PROBABLY MAKE A LITTLE MORE SNOW PRODUCTION.
